eSeed: Work Hard And Cheerfully

WORK HARD AND CHEERFULLY
Read Colossians 3:22-25 TLB
The ragged man had a desperate gleam in his eye. He said to a lady, “Unless you help me, I’ll have to do something horrible.”

Shuddering, the lady gave him ten dollars. And she said, “From what horrible thing have I saved you?”

“Work, ma’am,” he answered.

But work is honorable, not horrible. It’s a blessing, not a blight. It’s something you should live to do, not do to live. So work gratefully, and not grudgingly.

The Bible says, “Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord, and not merely your masters, remembering that it is the Lord who is going to pay you.”

Prayer: Stir us, Father, and make us excel in our work. Give us a sense of dedication to our work, a spirit of cooperation with our co-workers, a courage to face our difficulties, and a faith which holds us steady: through Christ.
Amen.
