LOSE YOURSELF
Read Mark 8:35

It was a bad season for a football team, and a friend was trying to cheer up the coach.

“You’ve taught your boys good sportsmanship,” he said. “They’re good losers.”

“Good losers?” growled the coach. “They’re perfect!”

While some are good losers in sports, they’re not in losing self.

Forget your rights, but remember your responsibilities.

Forget your obstacles, but remember your opportunities.

Lose yourself, not into self-indulgence, but service; not into immorality, but immortality.

Our Lord said, “Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for Me and for the gospel will save it.”

Prayer: Father, help me to lift and never lower others; to be a blessing and never a blight. Make me brave enough to face the battles of life and strong enough to overcome the temptations: through Christ. Amen.
