eSeed: Faith and Works

FAITH AND WORKS
Read James 2:14-17

Bill Jones was riding in his boat when it overturned about a mile from shore. His friends knew he wasn’t a good swimmer, and they thought he’d drown.

But he didn’t, and when he reached the shore, they asked, “How did you ever make it?”

“I don’t know,” he answered. “All I know is that I prayed to God, and kept my arms and legs in stroke.”

What a good secret for survival – pray to God and do your best.

It was General Booth who said, “Work as if everything depended on work, and pray as if everything depended on prayer.”

My friend, don’t expect to lean on the Lord, if you lean on the shovel. Prove your faith by your works.

Prayer: Help us, Father, never to be satisfied with words without work, with promises without performance, with prayer without putting feet to our prayers: through Christ. Amen.
