eSeed: Watch Out For The Gatepost

WATCH OUT FOR THE GATEPOST
Read 2 Samuel 3:38

A mean fellow died. There were no funeral directors then, so the widow dressed the body and placed it in the coffin.

As it was being carried from the house, the pallbearers stumbled, and the coffin crashed into a gatepost. The knock revived the mountaineer and he cursed everyone in sight.

The man lived about a year and died. Once more he was placed in the coffin. But the widow cautioned, “Watch out for the gatepost!”

Are you kind or cruel, helpful or hurtful, godly or ungodly? Will your death grieve or gladden others?

Will it be said of you as David said of Abner, “A great man has fallen!” or “Watch out for the gatepost!”

Prayer: Keep us, Father, from having a hard heart, a calloused conscience, and a dispassionate disposition. Make us sensitive to Thy Spirit and sympathetic to the saints and sinners so that we will be lovely in life: through Christ. Amen.
