Eseed: Sin - A Disappointment

Read James 1:1-15
A gunman in Cincinnati waited for a bartender as he locked up his business in preparation to go home. As the bartender turned to go, the thief grabbed the bag the bartender was carrying and ran down the street. Coming to a dark corner he opened the bag and found – garbage. What a disappointment.

But every act of sin has its own built-in disappointment. You imagine that your sin will make you happy, wise, or rich. But it doesn’t. The end is always disappointment, despair, and, ultimately, death. For the Bible says, “Sin, when it is finished, brings forth death.”

Want life? The satisfying, overcoming, never-ending life? Try the Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I have made a mess of my life. Break for me the habits that I can’t break. Deliver me from the guilt and grief of sin. Cleanse me and consecrate me: through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
