Honesty Pays

Read Proverbs 11:1 TLB

One of the traits that made Harry S. Truman a great president was his honesty.

When running against Dewey he was short of funds. A man offered to give him what he needed if he’d carry out certain policies.

“Give your money or keep it,” said Truman, “but I’m not making any deals.”

This response electrified his staff. The money came in, and Truman won the election.

Happiness is your heritage when honesty is your persistent practice, self-discipline your tireless teacher and truth your trusted tutor.

The Living Bible says, “The Lord hates cheating and delights in honesty.”

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I submit myself to Thee. Help me to resist the devil, to say no to every voice which invites me to sin. Constrain me to be honest in all that I do. I now draw near to Thee. Grant me Thy presence, Thy power and Thy purity for victory: through Christ. Amen.
