A mother said, “Bobby, you ate all that cake without thinking of your little sister.”
“I was thinking of her all the time,” he replied. “I was afraid she would come in before I finished eating it.”
Selfishness – it aims for happiness, but it cheats itself out of it.
You can’t be happy until you forget yourself. You can’t forget yourself until you remember others. And you won’t remember others until the Lord sheds His love in your heart. So, let Him.
The Bible says, “Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish.”
Prayer: Deliver us, heavenly Father, from selfishness and self-righteousness. Save us from cruel words and crude ways. So grant that guided and guarded by Thee we may live love and show Thy love to each one we meet: through Christ. Amen.
