Looking For Perfection

Two men seated next to each other on an airplane began talking. They soon discovered that one was married and the other single.
Curiosity finally got the best of the married man and he asked, “Why haven’t you married?”
“Because,” he answered, “I haven’t met the right woman.”
“Surely,” replied the married man, “you’ve met one you wanted to marry.”
“Oh, yes,” he said wistfully, “but she was looking for the perfect man.”
In The Living New Testament Romans 3:23 is translated “…all fall short of God’s glorious ideal.” There are some who like to rate and rank sins – some being more serious or worse than others. While some sins have more serious consequences than others, sin is sin. Whether or not we want to admit that we have sinned, God’s Word assures that all of us have, indeed, sinned.
In one way or another, we have all fallen short of His “glorious ideal.” Any sin makes us sinners and separates us from God in this life and the life to come. But God in His glorious grace and mercy makes it possible for us to reconnect with Him through His Son and have eternal life.
Prayer: We thank You, Father, for making possible our salvation as undeserving and unworthy as we are. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Scripture for Today: Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
