SELFISH SWEETIE
Read John 6:26-27 TLB

A pretty young model was looking sad. “What’s the matter?” asked the photographer.

“My boyfriend just lost all his money,” she answered.

“Oh,” he said, “I bet you’re feeling sorry for him.”

“Yes,” she answered, “I’ll miss him.”

Like that girl, there are many who follow the Lord for the loaves, not love; the fish, not faith; the sensational, not the spiritual. They major on the temporal and ignore the spiritual.

Our Lord said, “You want to be with Me because I fed you, not because you believe in Me. But you shouldn’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. No, spend your energy seeking eternal life that I can give you.”

Prayer: Come, Lord Jesus, into my heart. Dictate my words and direct my ways. Weave into the fabric of my life the virtues of love and loyalty, submission to Thy word and steadfastness in walking in Thy will: in Thy dear name. Amen.
