A BLESSING IN DISGUISE?

Year's ago, a pastor’s wife gave birth to a child with Down syndrome. Everyone wondered how she’d take it, especially the telephone operator on the party line.

When she phoned her parents, the operator heard her say, “Mother, the Lord has blessed us with a child with Down syndrome. We don’t know the nature of the blessing, but we know it’s a blessing.”

Startled, the operator reported the conversation to all the nurses.

On Sunday the pastor was surprised to see the operator and 70 nurses. When he gave the invitation, 30 professed conversion.

One child with Down Syndrome was responsible for 30 conversions. The mother was right. The child was a blessing, wasn’t he?

Prayer: Help us, Father, to prove with our lives what we profess with our lips. Inspire us to show others by our labors for Thee that we love Thee: through Christ. Amen.
