GET OUT OF THE DIRT
Read 1 John 2:15-17
Read 1 John 2:15-17
A little girl was helping her mother work in her flower garden. Watering a beautiful plant, she cried, “Mom, I know why flowers grow.”
“Why?” she asked.
“Because,” she answered, “they want to get out of the dirt.”
A Christian has his roots on this earth, but he has his heart set on things above. He gets his cues of behavior from the word, not the world.
He values the Bible above books, character above convenience, God above gold, loyalty above license, self-control above self-indulgence.
The best way to live in this world is to live above it. Be like the flowers – grow to get out of the dirt.
Prayer: Help us, heavenly Father, to wait on Thee, that Thou mayest strengthen and sustain us, cleanse and control us, mold us and make us Christlike Christians. Constrain us to keep our eyes on Thee: in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
