Read Proverbs 18:6-7 TLB
The new pastor said to deacon Jones, “I’m told you played golf instead of coming to church last Sunday.”
“That’s a lie!” he exclaimed. “And I have the fish to prove it!”
His mouth was his undoing.
There’s nothing so revealing as your words. You don’t have to talk long before you reveal if your heart is clean or dirty, kind or evil, obedient or disobedient to the Lord.
When you’re on guard, you’re careful what you say. But when you’re not on guard, when you’re not watching your words, your speech reveals your true character.
The Bible says, “A man’s heart determines his speech.”
Prayer: Deliver us, Father, from foolish and frivolous talk. Grant that our conversation shall be gracious and good, and be pleased to give us the right answer for everyone: in Thy name. Amen.
