Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?”

They all said to him, “Let Him be crucified!”

Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?”

But they cried out all the more saying, “Let Him be crucified!”

When Pilate saw he could not prevail...he took water and washed his hands before the multitude saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”

And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”

Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus...and stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him…twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head...mocked Him…spit upon Him...struck Him on the head...and led Him away to be crucified. Then they put a sign over His head: THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. In the end the soldiers said: Truly this was the Son of God.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, let these Words bring to our hearts an understanding of the cost of our salvation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
