The Anderson’s were having a delightful time at the county fair, enjoying the different foods and the many attractions. As they made their way through the booths and games they came to a large antique scale that read: YOUR WEIGHT AND FORTUNE: 25 CENTS.
Miriam urged, “George, let’s see how much you weigh and what’s going to happen.”
Getting on the scale, George put in a quarter and out came a little card. Miriam grabbed it and began to read the results. “Look at this,” she said. “It says you are handsome, kind and rich.” And then she began to laugh as she said, “And it’s got your weight wrong, too!”
We all know that the Bible does not tell us our fortune, but it does accurately predict one’s future: It is either heaven or hell. Jesus said, “All who believe in God’s Son have eternal life.” In a few simple, carefully chosen and easily understood words, the Lord clearly placed in front of everyone the greatest choice that all of us must ultimately make. Each of us must make that decision at one point in our lives: is it heaven or will it be hell.
This is a simple choice – although for some it is not easy. God wants us to choose Him and life. Otherwise, “the wrath of God awaits.”
Prayer: Lord, we don’t know the future, but we do know that we have this moment to choose You and have eternal life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Scripture for Today: John 3:36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
