"Somebody Loves You"

A receptionist walked to her desk one morning and saw a bouquet of twelve beautiful roses. Anxiously, she opened the card and read, “From somebody who loves you!”
Her mind began to go through a list of individuals whom she thought might have sent her the flowers. It could have been her boyfriend, her mom or dad, co-workers – or any number of different people. She made many phone calls to everyone who she thought might have sent the flowers.
Finally, she thought of her sister and called her. “Janet,” she asked, “did you send me the roses?”
“Yes,” was the reply. “You seemed discouraged and I wanted you to spend some time thinking about people who love you.”
“Well, I did,” she said, “and the list went on and on. I never thought that I was important to anyone.”
But there is Someone who loves us more that anyone on earth – our Heavenly Father. Long ago Jeremiah wrote about God’s love: “I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love. With an unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself.” It is almost unbelievable!
God, in His grace, mercy and kindness, has offered His unfailing and everlasting love to anyone who will accept it. How blest we are: God loves each of us.
Prayer: Lord, we are undeserving and unworthy of the love that You offer us through Christ our Savior who died that we may live with You eternally. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Scripture for Today: Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

Love Everlasting

Teenage years are difficult for both the teenager and the parent. But this one in particular became increasingly rebellious and belligerent. It seemed as though she delighted in causing her mother pain and embarrassment. Finally it reached a breaking point when she was arrested for drunk driving. Her mother was grief stricken.

After bringing her home from the police station, they sat facing one another. Finally, the mother presented her with a beautifully wrapped gift box. She opened it with a frown and saw a small rock. “Cute,” she said sarcastically. “What’s it for?”

Finally she saw a small card that was tucked away in the box. She read it slowly: “This rock is more than 200 million years old. That’s how long it will take before I give up on you.” Quietly she began to sob, tears running down her cheeks. She reached across the space that separated her from her mother and hugged her tightly. She apologized for all the pain and sorrow that she had caused and asked her mother to pray with her as she accepted Christ as her Savior.

Long ago Jeremiah the Prophet spoke about a message he received from the Lord. It was, “I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued My faithfulness to you.”

Prayer: We thank You, Heavenly Father, that Your unending love and sufficient grace is ours to accept. May we be open to Your love and obedient to Your Word. For Jesus’ sake, Amen.

We Are All In God's Heart

Some children were teasing a redheaded classmate. One taunted, “Why do you have red hair when your brothers and sisters have brown hair?”

“My parents adopted me,” he said proudly.

“What do you mean adopted?” asked another.

“I grew up in my mom’s heart instead of her tummy,” he explained.

Long ago, even before He made the world, the Bible tells us that God chooses us to be His very own, and made a place for us in His heart.

Ever since we were born, He has kept His eyes upon us, His ears open to us and His arms outstretched for us. And He says to each of us, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.”

Have you accepted His love and been adopted into His family? His arms are open and He is waiting for you.

Prayer: We are grateful to You, our Father, that You have a special place for each of us in Your heart. We realize that there are times when we feel that we do not deserve Your love or have done things that have disappointed You. But we take You at Your word and ask that You forgive us and let us find our space in Your heart. In Jesus name. Amen.
