Who's On The Lord's Side?

Years ago when Italy went to war there was a shortage of soldiers. To find recruits, one captain went through the villages calling men to fight with him. Many joined him bringing their own weapons into combat.
One elderly lady was so moved by the sight that she got her broom, placed it on her shoulder and began to march with them.
Many of the soldiers laughed at her. One looked at her and asked, “What good are you, old lady?”
“Not much,” she replied, “but I want everyone to know whose side I’m on!”
Life requires many choices. But there is no more important choice for each of us than to let the world know whose side we are on. Joshua said, “So honor the Lord and serve Him whole heartedly.” He challenged the people to declare their allegiance to God because He had proven His trustworthiness to them.
From simple to significant, we make many choices each day. Not being able to see the future or knowing which direction our lives may take, we must put our trust in the One who does. We must listen to the Lord as He speaks to us through His Word. When we do, it will be easier to make the right choices. Especially if we are on the Lord’s side and draw upon His strength.
Prayer: Lord, may we live our lives letting those around us see the depth of our commitment to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Choices

A couple was selling a farm. In a meeting with their attorney, the wife was asked, “Did you sign this deed of your own free will? Did your husband in any way coerce you to sign these papers?”

“Him?” she asked. “I’d like to see him try to coerce me.”

Life is full of choices. We choose our spouses, our careers, our friends, our hobbies and where we live. But above all of those choices is choosing who we will serve with our lives. The supreme choice we all must make is whether or not we will serve God. Throughout Scripture God has challenged everyone to walk with Him and become one of His children by faith and His grace. However, He has never dragged an unwilling heart into His kingdom. He may bring unwelcome events into our lives to get our attention, but in the final analysis, we must decide for Him or against Him. Though we may have turned away from Him in the past, He is waiting for us to come to Him right now. The choice is ours!

Prayer: Lord, of all the decisions I make in life, choosing You to become my Lord and Savior is the most important. May I this day surrender my life completely to You, have an open heart and willingly dedicate all that I am and have to You. In Christ’s Name. Amen.

Playthings Or People

Read Joshua 24:15 NKJ
A little girl showed me her doll. She pulled a cord and it said, “Hello.” She pulled it again and it said, “I love you.”

God could have made us like that. But He doesn’t want playthings. He wants people who really love Him.

To make us free to love and obey Him, we have to be free to dislike and disobey Him.

God has given you freedom of will. You may use the gift of will to serve Him or to separate yourself from Him.

That’s why the Bible says, “Choose this day whom you will serve.” When you have a choice and you don’t take it, that in itself is a choice.

You will choose to love and obey the Lord, won’t you?

Prayer: Create in us, Father, a new, clean heart. Fill it, we beg Thee, with clean thoughts and right desires. Make us willing to obey Thee in everything: in Christ’s name. Amen.
